PVC Impact Modifiers: ACR, CPE & MBS

Endura comes in three types: ACR for outdoor products such as roofing and ceiling panels, CPE for pipe, conduit and gutters, and MBS for clear rigid film. We help match the type and dosage to your product and formulation, at competitive prices as part of our support for customers.

How to choose a PVC impact modifier

Rigid PVC is brittle by nature. An impact modifier forms small rubbery domains in the PVC matrix that absorb impact energy, so the product does not crack easily during installation or on impact.

ACR gives good weather resistance and color retention, which suits roofing, ceiling panels and outdoor profiles. CPE is cost-effective, takes filler well and also helps processing, which suits pipe, conduit and gutters. MBS keeps clarity, so it is used for clear rigid film and sheet, but it is not recommended for outdoor products.

Impact strength rises along an S-curve with dosage. Once the ductile point is reached, more modifier adds little, so the optimum dosage is best set through trials. When switching impact modifier type, the lubricant package needs adjusting too.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CPE and ACR impact modifiers?

CPE is cost-effective, takes filler well and also helps processing, so it is widely used for pipe, conduit and gutters. ACR is stronger on weather resistance and color retention, so it suits roofing, ceiling panels and outdoor profiles.

What dosage of impact modifier does PVC need?

As a starting point: Endura CP-110 (CPE) 2.0–8.0 phr, Endura AC-210 (ACR) 4.0–10.0 phr and Endura MB-810 (MBS) 4.0–15.0 phr, depending on the application. The optimum dosage is confirmed through trials.

What does impact modifier cost?

Impact modifier prices follow the market and depend on grade and volume. We offer competitive prices as part of our support for customers. Send a quote request with the grade, application and expected volume, and our team will reply with an offer.
