PVC Heat Stabilizers: CaZn, Lead & Tin
Three stabilizer systems for different needs: Calzora (CaZn, lead-free), Plumbex (lead) and Stannova (methyltin). Calzora and Plumbex are one-pack stabilizers, with stabilizers and lubricants in a single dosing step. We can adjust the formulation to your resin and machine, and prices are competitive as part of our support for customers.
Products in this category
Calzora
Lead- and barium-free calcium zinc stabilizers, in powder and liquid form for rigid and soft PVC.
Plumbex
Lead-based stabilizers for pipe, roofing, ceiling, gutters, conduit and cable, in low-dust form.
Stannova
Liquid tin stabilizers for pipe, roofing, ceiling, gutters and clear rigid film.
How to choose a PVC heat stabilizer
When heated, PVC releases HCl and starts to degrade: it turns yellow, then black. A heat stabilizer captures the HCl and protects color during processing. The right system depends on your product, your target market and how your production line runs.
Lead stabilizers have a wide processing window and good long-term heat stability, but are not for products in contact with food or drinking water, or markets that restrict lead. CaZn is the lead-free option for rigid and soft PVC. Tin (methyltin) stabilizers are very efficient at low dosage and give excellent early color and clarity, which is why they are widely used for clear rigid film.
A one-pack stabilizer combines stabilizers and lubricants in one material, so a single dosing step is enough. We can still adjust the formulation to your resin, machine and filler level.
Frequently asked questions
What is a one-pack stabilizer?
A one-pack stabilizer already contains the lubricant package, so operators weigh a single material. Calzora (powder grades) and Plumbex are one-pack stabilizers, and their formulation can be adjusted to the customer's resin and machine.
Is CaZn or lead stabilizer better?
It depends on the product and market. Lead wins on processing window, while CaZn is the lead-free option required for drinking-water pipe, export and markets that restrict lead. Switching to CaZn usually changes the lubrication needs too, and our team can support the transition.
When should I use a tin stabilizer?
Tin (methyltin mercaptide) stabilizers are used when you need high efficiency at low dosage and excellent early color, especially for clear rigid film, twin-screw pipe and foamed ceiling panels. Tin must not be mixed with lead.
What does CaZn, lead and tin stabilizer cost?
CaZn, lead and tin stabilizer prices follow the market and depend on grade and volume. We offer competitive prices as part of our support for customers. Send a quote request with the grade, application and expected volume, and our team will reply with an offer.
